ATLANTA, GA (March 19, 2008)- Sharefam.com is a free, social networking site that allows families to share pictures, relate stories, collect recipes and plan events in a safe and private online environment. It is the brainchild of Dean Roy and his entrepreneurial partner Paul Guidry, and it was built by Zertia, a leading business technology solutions company.

"Dean’s vision was a social site somewhat like Facebook or MySpace, but specifically family-oriented, with tighter controls over content and access,” said Dan Kehoe, president of Zertia. "The project presented some challenging technical obstacles, not the least of which was an extremely tight time frame.”

One feature unique to Sharefam is the Table. "The Table is where it all starts,” said Roy. "We wanted it to be like your kitchen table at home. Within Sharefam, it’s where you invite family members to join you, and where you can see everyone connected to your account. Technically, it’s probably the most challenging thing we asked Zertia to do.”

The site allows members to create a profile, get reminders about family birthdays and other important dates, send invitations, plan events and send messages. Users can also catalogue and share family photos and stories. "Photos are at present our heaviest traffic area,” Roy said. "But as we add members, the story area is getting more use.”

Zertia was able to meet not only the ambitious deadline, but the budget as well. "Sharefam is a Web 2.0 application, built around interaction with users,” Kehoe said. "We completed it using 100% in-house development resources.”

The site architecture is designed so that new areas can be added easily as users make their preferences known. "I’m very pleased with the way it was built out,” Roy said. "It’s easily scalable, so we can make additions without requiring a lot of re-work. Zertia made it very flexible so we can respond to what our members want.”

Sharefam has been online at www.sharefam.com since January, 2008 and begins its first major marketing effort this summer.
